Carn nan Gabhar - cycle in?

Carn nan Gabhar - cycle in?

Postby Knuckledragger » Thu Sep 26, 2019 4:43 pm

For all sorts of reasons, I had to bale out of doing CnG as part of the classic Beinn a'Ghlo triumvirate. I am now faced with a long long trudge up the track to tick off this hill.

I know its in the middle of nowhere, so should be safe, but does anyone know if there is anywhere I can stash/lock a bike close to where I would head off the path towards the Bealach an Fhiodha?

Just leave it off the side of the track and put a lock round the frame & back wheel. Unless an estate worker sticks it in the back of a land rover it will be perfectly safe.

Alternative route would be Glen Tilt to do CnG.
Cycle to bridge at NN 956 762 cross bridge dump bike at trees cross bridge over the Allt Fheanach and take the old stalkers path(hard to see close up but from path in Glen Tilt you should be able to see it) this leads to Meall a' Mhuirich and the ridge to CnG,once you reach Lurg Smeur there is a good going path for most of the way.

Good advice - thanks folks. The cycle along Glen Tilt looks pretty long!

Just do the whole route again. It's a cracker.

No sure what your fitness levels are? But I had the same dilemma, so ran along the track to the start of the path to the bealach. Nice easy gradient.
