Glass bottles and tin cans (infact almost everything) suggests someone not well clued up or well prepared for their trip but what is the deal wi the selfies. The post is a bit "look at me, haven't I done good".

I really hope someone not very clued up on the hills has not tried to return to their tent late at night to find it stolen then be forced to carry on either in the dark or fatigued.

I'm a big advocate of LNT, but this was an odd one. They probably did the right thing clearing it up. If it was me I'd have took some photos and noted the GR then alert the police.

They did report it to the police apparently and they agreed it was most likely an abandoned camp. It was their self righteousness of the post that wound me up to be honest, couldn't get anymore condescending if he tried.

I agree with you Wallace...definitely some criticism needed for the words used to accompany the images. Now this report via the Facebook has disappeared. We should be able to debate this type of vandalism and not to hide it all away.

To Helen Webster. Thanks for the reply to that. I think that the folks should have taken the replies on the chin and been happy that folks on here take a keen interest on good behaviour when camping in the hills. We do not all practice what was found by them on this occasion.

Could you possibly remove from my post this morning....the Scotland section...I have pressed the wrong button again and posted twice the same report...many thanks. gaffr.

He deleted his posts due to a lot of criticism. Some folk as usual go a bit OTT on social media.

How strange. If I had spent any kind of money on all that gear I would certainly want to take it home with me. This is similar to that instance at Angle Tarn a few weeks back, where tent was dismantled and all the gear stuffed inside it, with a suitcase put on top, maybe to weight it down. My favourite theory is that the occupants of the tents were maybe busy dismantling their tent and started packing everything away neatly and the pitch was suddenly struck by the dreaded midges :( and off they ran down the hill screaming, leaving everything behind. I've never left any gear, but on occasions I've started to pack up and ended up ripping the pegs out and shoving everything into the car in one big bundle when the midges started.
