Famous Highland Drove Walk

Famous Highland Drove Walk

Postby Markhakstege » Sat Jul 04, 2020 1:51 pm

Hello Friends

Has anyone walked the Famous Highland Drove Walk? I was wondering if it has much tarmac walking in it and I was wondering why it is not shown in the Long Distance Walk section on this page?

Any tips, experiences appreciated.

Thanks!

Have a look at this site https://www.ldwa.org.uk/ldp/members/show_path.php?path_name=Famous+Highland+Drove+Walk it has an interactive map and you can see all the bits that follow roads.

Yes thanks. I guess I was too lazy to check myself. But I did now and it does seem to have rather a lot of hard surface walking unfortunately.

Interested in whether you walked the Famous Highland Drove Walk. I intend to next year and there are many routes that avoid the tarmac - Butterfield lists many of them in his book.

Hi there,
No, I didn't do the walk. Ordered the book, but left it at that. Maybe someday.

My daughter did this Walk with a.couple of friends who were studying in Glasgow during the 90's.
One of the bunch of long walks that they did together at the end of each academic year during their stay.
