Hidden Whisky! Ben Mor Coigach

Hidden Whisky! Ben Mor Coigach

Postby mckain » Thu Jul 09, 2020 10:31 am

Hidden in 2016 but not sure if it’s still there!
Located at the col between Fhidhleir and Coigach.
The bottle is hidden under the north side of one of the prominent boulders that sit near the edge on the col.

There is also a smaller bottle situated in a rock crack near the summit of Coigach. Exact grid reference not available but I have attached a photo which should help.
Good luck!

Unless you were planning to go back and get it within a couple of days, it's still litter on the hills so not a great idea leaving it there...

Only kidding !! nice wee find if it's still there. Not really litter, the finder, I would image, will certainly clean it up and clean it out.

Why, because it’s litter, that’s why. If the OP was stashing it to return later that’s not as bad, but to wilfully leave litter because they couldn’t be arsed carrying out is wrong.

And the question begs to be asked, why now after 4 years has the OP decided to share this

Tip of the week - if you find a whisky bottle full of amber liquid under a rock, take a good sniff before having a swig.

My first reaction.....
(and I too fall into the 'it is litter' view - same with summit adornments, painted rocks and other such like)

Do we know what whisky it was? I've no issues if it was half decent but if it was Teachers, Bells or similar I will find it myself and chuck it in the bin.

Of course it's littering. If it was a couple of bottles of MD20/20 we'd be calling him all the chavs under the sun.

Twelve years ago I hid a bottle of strawberry Frijj and a packet of bacon frazzles within Suilven's summit cairn, if anyone manages to find them before I go back next, they can have them.

I note from your posting history that you have also hidden a camping stove under a pile of stones?

Just gonna say - no! Either you have done this and it is lettering, or you are just trying to get random strangers on the interwebs running round hills finding random items?

Odd behaviour.

Can I respectfully point out one little problem with leaving bottles on the hills? Right now, the North West Highlands are tinder dry. We've just had a very large fire in the Affric area. It's a remote chance, admittedly. But bottles can act as lenses and have been known to cause fire. Even broken glass can start a fire. It's a remote chance, as I say. But it has been known to happen. If so, leaving bottles lying about the Highlands is, I'm sorry to say, vandalism. Please do not do it. And do not encourage others to do it.
Thanks!
