Traverse BenVane and Ben Ledi

Traverse BenVane and Ben Ledi

Postby paulG2 » Fri Aug 21, 2020 8:12 pm

I was thinking of traversing the ridge from Benvane to Ben Ledi tomorrow (going from north to south). Anyway I thought of leaving a bike at the end of the walk (beginning of Ben Vane) and then cycling back to my car along the Rob Roy Way to get to my car at Balliemore. has anyone done this ? Is it cycleable?

Or come in from Brig o' Turk where the are doable as a sort of circuit(may require an out & back to one summit)

Excellent idea, never visualised that route and should be nice and quite.

Yes, that’s what I was wondering - essentially is the rob Roy way a cycle path as well. It hints at it but not totally sure.

Yes, it's a cycle route. I've done it on 32mm tyres easily. Some crushed gravel and the like.

Yes it's a cycle path. I've done it on 700 x 32mm

The Rob Roy Way is fully cyclable on at least a hybrid so no problems there.

I did Ledi and Vane from Brig o'Turk and it's a nice route. The climb to Ledi is a bit of a plod but not steep or particularly boggy. For the descent from Vane I would recommend using the ridge quite far before dropping down. There is a long deer fence at low level that is a pain to walk along as I dropped too early.
