Lurker here

Postby Ewen1966 » Mon Mar 21, 2022 11:00 pm

Been a member since 2020 and a lurker before that.
I'm based in Ireland but am from Scotland and try to get home for some walking every year. A lot was put on hold over the lockdown but hopefully I can get to do the walks that were postponed. I was going to do the WHW in 2020...
I was a munro bagger but moved to one of the flattest countries in Europe in the 90s so that fell by the wayside. I bag local hills in Wicklow and the Slieve blooms but am getting more in to long distance walks.
Walk Highlands is a magnificent resource and I would just like to give my appreciation to all the mods and contributers here.

Hi Ewan,

I have an ambition to do some hill walking in Ireland. Hopefully get some movement there soon. Good luck with the WHW. Have completed it a couple of times, all I’ll say is start planning we’ll in advance. I would recommend the Harvey’s WHW map as an excellent planning tool. And the. Walk will hurt your feet more than anywhere else.

Cheers Calum.
I first tried the WHW when it opened. I was 14. Then 2020 and now maybe next year, maybe not.
Planning is half the fun :D
Some great areas for walking in Ireland. If you come to Wicklow, enjoy the bogtrotting

Thanks for the warning. Had a few practices here already so hopefully not too much of a shock.
