Glad to be here folks!

Just finished buying all the gear (ouch!) and going to break it in going up Ben Wyvis next week.

Then me and a mate are hiring a guide for a couple days late August to teach us more about navigation and all the core hill skills.

Then who knows where we'll end up............... :D

Sounds like you're well on your way to enjoying everything this activity/obession has to offer. Let us know it goes on Ben Wyvis next week!

Welcome!

Ben Wyvis is probably a good one to do with your mate; straightforward if the weather is good - hope to see a trip report 8) Sounds like you have a good plan to get learning navigation skills, too.

Yes I'll get a trip report done...assuming I make it back to tell the tale

So is it the MWIS you all mainly use to check weather?

It's the one I use, yes- seems the most detailed, and about as accurate as can be expected!

Yes, MWIS is the daddy. The met office have started a mountain forecast too, but that's not being going so long.

We are the sponsor of the MWIS forecast for the Southeastern highlands (Perthshire) so maybe I am biased :)

I've just been looking properly at MWIS - it looks good.

So where is best for a rough long term forecast (say next 7-10 days)?
