New `Walker`

Postby zebidee1 » Sat Jul 25, 2009 8:53 pm

A quick hello to all.

A little about myself. I`m 38, live in Invergordon, and work out of Inverness.

For some reason I have been bitten by the fitness bug over the last 7 weeks or so, and figure hill walking would be a good form of exercise to take up. So, in readiness I bought my first pair of boots last week, ready to be abused.

So, I may pop in from time to time to ask advice, if its not already on the boards.

Cheers

Hi and welcome. With a name like Zebidee, you'll be springing up the hills in no time. Might be worth having a quick look at the Skills section to get a intro to navigation etc. :D

Cheers Paul.

Was in the Army, but left around 13 years ago. But really only had very basic map reading skills. Just got my own compass and map today, so will break them out give them a look.

BTW, zebidee1 is my xbox gamertag, and has just stuck. :D

LOL, I think you had better call on some one with more experience, I havent even done 1 Munro yet. Although I keep driving too and from work, and eyeing up Ben Wyvis. I still have got kit to get, although I do have nice new boots that need broken in.

Good luck in finding a good montain guide from the Inverness area, mountain coward.

Ah, Tenbob, heard of you. :problem:

Only jesting.

I bet you`re glad you left and never came back. I origionally lived in little Glasgow, Alness. Joined army, and returned 11 years later( why ? ), and have now settled in Invergordon. It`s not bad really, if you close your eyes.

Well even if you don't have experience of them, I may still call you for some company! I seem to do too many Munros on my own!

I havent used mine for about 4 weeks now, cant do everything. Work, fitness, dog walking,DIY,family, and erm xbox. That seems way down the list at the moment. Mind you tbh, I havent missed it. But I`m sure from time to time I can hear it saying "Switch me on, you know you want to." :D

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hope you manage the Ben Wyvis. Looks fairly straight forward, but what does a novice know? :?
