Hello everyone, I've been looking at this site for months now, thought I'd take the plunge and join as I'm coming up to scotland for the week in september to start work on notching up those beautiful Munros.

Yes, going to start with Ben Lomond because when my grandmother was alive I could see it from her house. Then I'm going to do Ben Vane, Ben Vorlich, Beinn Ime, Beinn Narnain and Beinn Bhuidhe. Also a couple of Corbetts - The Cobbler and Beinn Luibhean.

Actually, looking at that post, you're probably not German after all!

Don't mention the War !

It's odd how much the subject of The War crops up whenever there is a German around. I was once nearly incontinent with hysterics after inadvertantly Mentioning The War whilst sitting beside a few Germans in the Slig. I had to run away and hide under a pool table while my laughter rang out echoing in the bar. My mate was left at the table with the Germans. The really funny thing was that they looked as if they had leprosy from all the midgie bites/welts on their faces.
Another, less hysterical time in a bothy I mistook a German girl for a Norwegian, and Mentioned The War indiscriminately until the sullen silence made the slow dawn of realisation hit home.
Still, two-nil, eh?

p.s. Don't mention The War - I did earlier but I think I got away with it...

Sort of a nick-name for you in yer longjohns and big knee-length socks and string vest after a hard day's hiking through bog and burn, drying yer stinky feet in front of a bothy fire? An image of Albert Steptoe is coming to mind...

Nevermind, just think of the money you'll save! I've never been so wealthy as when I've been single. And there's no more whining voice, nagging in your ear, until you die.
And if you had kids, you can sell them for medical experiments and buy new kit ! Everybody wins!

Hey Caberfeidh, you got one hell of a weird sense of humour, some of your posts dont half make me laugh (must be all that sea air) but I couldn't sell my kids (even though they do look like their mother) still if you need any spare parts for your boat I've just got rid of an old boiler if you want her, err I mean it

Aye, I've not been here too long but the old seadog big C does have a great sense of humour. It's especially more funny if you believe he looks like his avatar!

Moving on, good luck with Ben Lomond, hope you get better views than I did - thick in the mist with a 25 metre visability and horizontal bullet rain :( Still, I loved it and will climb it again in the future but will make sure I pick a better day for it!
