Hello everybody,
I've been following the website for some time now and use it for walk descriptions, but also hugely enjoy the forum. I can't manage that many walking trips in Scotland as I live in the Netherlands (not much practive around the all flat polders either). Once a year though I travel to Scotland with a group of three friends with the intention to bag at least two munro's and enjoy everything else as well. This year we were in Lochcarron for about 4 days. We went up to Maol Chean Dearg the first day and did Beinn Liath Mhor the second day. Very windy, rainy (also snow and hailstone), but great view towards Torridon during clear spells. We wanted to do Sgorr Ruadh as well in this walk but that was too far as we started too late, so we turned back in an absolute downpour to have a nice wee dram in our cottage. Other highlight of the visit was an exquisite lunch in the Kishorn Seafood Bar on a rainy day.
Next week I'll be going with my girlfriend to Scotland for three weeks, basically going all over the place as, apart from the Highlands, I also want to visit Glasgow (where I used to live for a while) and Edinburgh as well. My girlfriend has never been to Scotland before so I will give her the full tourist experience without the tacky bits (well at least not too much of it). Hope the weather will get somewhat better, so we can also do some hillwalking, I hope to do some munro's with her but it really depends on the weather. I hope to post some reports after we get back.
If you see a Dutch Ford Fiesta with a walkhighlands sticker on it (thanks for that!) than that'll probably be us en route to either a hill or a campsite!
