Hi - A group of twelve of us from the Epping Forest Outdoor Group will be spending a long weekend in Aviemore in October. I would welcome suggestions for medium difficulty walks of 8 to 12 miles in the area. We are based in northeast London but regularly make forays to Derbyshire, Wales, the Lake District and sometimes Scotland.

Plenty of scope in that area, and most of the routes are fairly well walked with clear paths. If you go up onto any of the Cairngorm summits remember that the weather and conditions can change dramatically quickly, even in October, therefore good navigation and decent clothing is essential.

Hope you have a good time, very jealous, wish I could get out of London and into the hills!
