Newbie speaking - need info!

Postby deestobie » Mon Oct 05, 2009 11:07 pm

Hi everyone,

I am doing research for someone writing a book on the freshwater lochs of Scotland. One of the categories is "walking", another is "mountain biking", and a third is "Munros" (I apologise to those who like an extra "e" in there; it seems to be interchangeable).

Would the kind folks on here be willing to help with advice and information? I am dealing with 33 lochs and the interwebs is pretty darn useless at times...:-(

Yours in desperate hope :D

hi Dee,

what is it that you are looking to find out about these subjects in particular?

You're only dealing with 33 lochs???
Are there going to be catagories for fishing, canoeing, swimming, wildlife, etc.? Flora and fauna? Tom Weir did a couple of excellent books on the Scottish Lochs, they make any other superfluous.

Re categories - yes to all of the above!

I'm just doing the research (and therefore what I'm told...) but thanks for the heads-up about the Tom Weir books. Will get those for my client ASAP.

I need to go to bed now, long day today, but will post in greater detail tomorrow. Should I start a new thread elsewhere? Not sure about board etiquette here.

Thanks for your replies and welcome.

Hi there Dee, welcome to the site!

Maybe post a topic under 'general discussion' and let us know specfically what you're after? I'm a writer... boy would it be nice to have someone do my research for me!! I know it can be a lot of work. Good luck to you!

Thanks Michelle - will post on general discussions.
