7 day trek of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Day 1-4 were great. Relatively easy, well established trails and great guides. Some scrambling along Baranco Wall which was fun. But the altitude can do one. So can the ants.

Day 5-6… not even sure how to describe this. Absolutely minging. 4km walk to camp, lunch, sleep, wake-up and leave at 11pm for the summit. 9 hours of watching the feet of the person in front of you. Minging. Hallucinations, headaches, exhaustion, the odd nap mid-stride. ASM is a real thing.

Quick photo then 3 hours of awful screed tracks back to camp. Never again. Quick rest then another 3 hour trek to Millennium Camp. Finally, a sleep.

Day 7 - relentless downhill tracks, finally reaching the bottom for a well earned beer!
