A long but very enjoyable loop of the Old Man and its surrounding fells. Bar a slightly damp area beyond Levers Water and the ankle testing stones of the Walna Scar Road, good paths throughout and some great hills and scenery. The ascents to Dow Crag (and the ridge south from there) and Swirl How are pleasingly steep rocky sections; that to the Old Man a bit more of a route-march. And on a sunny clear day like this, there can't be a much better view of the Scafells than from Grey Friar.
