Rather a mixed bag, this. For some forgotten reason, this was picked as a suitable route after a wet spell, but that later proved a big misconception...

It's a very pleasing climb from the Crimea Pass to the summit of Allt-Fawr, and the broad ridge through the lakes to the other three peaks - despite some avoidable boggy patches - also pleasant going, with some quite steep and rocky tops (especially the main Ysgafell Wen summit) coming in quick succession. The long thrash through the very wet and reedy valley to the north afterwards though is just horrible in large patches - it seems a very long and unpleasant way back; just choose another way!
