A big solo walking adventure that taught me some lessons about limitations as I flagged pretty badly up Waun Fach...

This Carmarthen Fan route is one of Wales's best - a little rough moorland, followed by a ridge walk with spectacular views of the escarpments and lakes and then a good track back.

Waun Fach isn't quite so great, but still some good parts after the initial (pretty pathless) slog up the hillside. Most of the upper moor is nice, the actual summit even in dry conditions a bit of a peaty wilderness. The grassy undulating Y Grib descent ridge is a cracker though, one of the best features of the Black Mountains.
