October School Holiday in Scotland, we wanted to stay in Kintail / Skye again as every Year before this Autumn time, but rainy Weather forecast for all the week almost everywhere in Scotland made us to change for North Wales - Snowdonia, which is our favourite area from some trips / hikes in the previous years...

It was 5th time climbing Snowdon for me now.

Previous times I used the route via Crib Goch
( Snowdon Horseshoe = 4 the Hewitts / mountains circle ):

The Movie incl. Clouds inversion, Broken Spectre and Route coverage:

Now used Watkin Path, which is ranked as 2nd hardest route for the final tricky exposed, steepy scree ascend and most of ascent overall, with my wife and my 9 y.old daughter Cheyenne. Original plan was to do climb via Crib Goch, me & Cheyenne and meet my wife on the summit of Snowdon as she would use Pyg track, but the Pen - Y - Pass car park new rules forced us to change the plan. Last time I was there the price was £10 for all day, but now is £ 18 up to 8 hours or £40 for all day ( no overnight staying ) and it ONLY MUST BE BOOKED ONLINE IN ADVANCE ! Quickly decided for the Watkin Path as I used the Llanberis Path in 2013 so wanted to do it via different route and enjoy the Water Falls on the way up with my Family...the only concern was the final ascent - exposed scree part which I considered as an potential danger for my Girls as I used the part of Watkin when descending from Snowdon doing the Horseshoe and continuing via Y Lliwedd in 2016, but there was an hope that the part of the route may be improved...
For Cheyenne it was completing all the National Highest Mountains in one Year period as we climbed Scafell Pike in Summer 2020 and Cheyenne climbed Ben Nevis with me on July this Year :D
We were lucky to get some stunning views incl. Cloud inversion and Broken Spectre, nice to see also some Ravens and Seagulls flying around...Wild Mountain Goat and Sheep...it all made great excitement especially for Cheyenne and it was beautiful addition to the Views - Pictures 8) ALL IN THE VIDEO-MOVIE.
It was nice and warm, clear views on the bottom, but very cold wind and sometimes fogy on the top, but we were ready and prepared for it as I checked the weather forecast for the summit which is mostly different from the lower level.
I was really proud of my wife Magdalene and my daughter Cheyenne who managed bravely the final exposed scree steepy ascend and then reached the summit in the cold wind
I did not want them to risk the descending there the same way so I gave them instructions and send them back down via Pyg Track, descended the Watkin myself back to the car park and then pick them up from Pen - Y - Pass. It was a great Family day out, wonderful adventure in North Wales again...Beautiful Snowdonia !

Beautiful photos! The sunset ones remind me of my one trip to Snowdon with a group in 2018 - we went via Crib Goch and had a gentle walk back to the youth hostel where we were staying, watching the sun set. A magical place.
We avoided the high car park charges by taking the bus to Snowdon from the Bryn Gwynant Youth Hostel where we were staying. It was scenic, stress-free and cost us £2 each!

Thank you. It is a magical place. The bus will be definitely a good option for next  Looks like is going often enough there as I saw more walkers waiting for a bus and moved out for the bus when arrived when I was waiting there for my wife and daughter. Good to know for next, but I was not able to use the bus in my two previous trips there when I did The Snowdon Horseshoe via Crib Goch and had timing limitation to meet my family on the Snowdon summit who came there by train and then needed to pick them in Llanberis, Three Peaks Challenge before was about time limitation as well, but the price of £10 was still (hardly) acceptable...not now of £18 or £40 though

Stunning photos and great video. Good to see all the family enjoying it! Proof that Snowdon is a fantastic mountain despite the crowds.

I think the parking charges are deliberately super-high, in order to put people off! The bus from Llanberis is a good alternative.

It is a shame that so many people do the Llanberis path, often in poor weather, and never see the full splendour of the mountain. A bit like Ben Nevis via the “tourist path”.

Thank you Tim :D
Snowdon is definitely a beautiful mountain ( that's why I'm coming back there again and again  ) and I love the variety of routes, something for everyone to chose how to reach the summit, from the easy Llanberis Path to the challenging Crib Goch ridge route. It's most busy summit in the UK, especially in Summer and also for the accessibility for older people and children by train. I'm mostly enjoying people free summits by my very early starts, but happy to share the enjoyment wit my family when possible :D
I was surprised how beautiful The Watkin Path is  8) especially around the waterfalls and the ascent & bealach between Snowdon and Y Lliwedd which offers great views when leaving the path closer to the edge towards Llyn Llydaw 8)
Still want to do Snowdon via Rhyd Du and Ranger to complete the routes when adding also Yr Aran and repeat Crib Goch and the Horseshoe again, with my daughter and my son next :D
