I think the parking charges are deliberately super-high, in order to put people off! The bus from Llanberis is a good alternative.
It is a shame that so many people do the Llanberis path, often in poor weather, and never see the full splendour of the mountain. A bit like Ben Nevis via the “tourist path”.

Thank you Tim
Snowdon is definitely a beautiful mountain ( that's why I'm coming back there again and again
) and I love the variety of routes, something for everyone to chose how to reach the summit, from the easy Llanberis Path to the challenging Crib Goch ridge route. It's most busy summit in the UK, especially in Summer and also for the accessibility for older people and children by train. I'm mostly enjoying people free summits by my very early starts, but happy to share the enjoyment wit my family when possible
I was surprised how beautiful The Watkin Path is
especially around the waterfalls and the ascent & bealach between Snowdon and Y Lliwedd which offers great views when leaving the path closer to the edge towards Llyn Llydaw
Still want to do Snowdon via Rhyd Du and Ranger to complete the routes when adding also Yr Aran and repeat Crib Goch and the Horseshoe again, with my daughter and my son next
