This was a really special walk for me - my wife's first walk to an actual hill (with trig!) following two knee replacements.
Conditions were rather magical too, although the start was unpromising.

But then the clouds and snow began to lessen and clear.

Suddenly we had a view over Porlock Bay.

The "easy access walk" laid out by the National Trust provides a beautiful approach to the summit of the hill.

After reaching the Memorial Shelter (see
https://www.exmoorher.co.uk/Monument/MSO10272), and reading the poems, we set off on the final ascent to the top, through gorse bushes above thickets of birches, all laced with snow, with widening views.

We had glimpses of the snow-capped Brecon Beacons and Carmarthen Fan above the Vale of Glamorgan, and sunshine picked out the cliffs at Llantwit and Southerndown, and the lighthouse at Nash Point. We could also see the Gower stretching out to the horizon.
We descended in a loop to get the best views over Exmoor and Porlock Bay. A wonderful walk (and a good test for the new knees).

It was also a great trip for the fossils we found.
