Hi all
This is just a post to let all followers of Walk Highlands & especially those who took time time to read Trailmasher's "epic" posts over the years know that sadly last week he passed away.
He unfortunately became unwell towards the end of last year (Nov/Dec) & was admitted to hospital with what was discovered to be a heart problem. On the 11/3 they operated & although the operation was initially successful, TM continued to deteriorate as he had become so weak with the months of fighting & on Wednesday 16th March, Jon passed.
In the almost 7 years i knew TM, he amazed me with his knowledge, fitness & enthusiasm for all things walking, especially the lakeland fells. Despite our age difference (nearly 30 yrs) we became "proper" mates during our time together. I owe my knowledge & successful completion of the Wainwrights along with many other Birketts, Hewitts, Howgills etc to Jon.
He will be sorely missed by all that knew him & I'm sure even on this forum he will be missed.
i guess many of you will have read his recollections of walks, put together in such detail along with pics that you could actually do a route straight from the report
Keep on walking people & stay safe
R.I.P Jon, gone but never forgotten x
