This board helps you to share your walking route experiences in England and Wales... or overseas.
Warning Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.

Completion of both the Wainwrights and the English Hewitts. The title to this post being an allusion to this - https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=41402

From Honister Pass via Grey Knotts, Brandreth, cutting down to the Moses Trod path (to avoid an ascent of Green Gable), Beck Head, Kirk Fell - east top, Beck Head, Moses Trod path, cut up over the NW shoulder of Brandreth to the path to Drum House, Honister Crag, Fleetwith Pike and Honister Pass.

Fleetwith Pike completed both lists.

We had great weather. The view down to Buttermere, Crummock Water and beyond from Fleetwith Pike is just fabulous spoiled only by the eyesore of a caravan site on the side of Buttermere.

Covid forced me to concentrate on the Lakes and Northern Pennines, areas that I had neglected for too long. What challenge next?

[Post script - the list tamperers changed the location of the summit of Sails. So I recompleted the English Hewitts in November 2022 with a second visit to Little Fell and Sails.]
