I left the car just gone 8:00 am and followed the track to Ennerdale Water, then on along the shore for a few minutes before taking the faint path up to Anglers Crag.

Once this was reached a way was threaded up more steep grass and rock and out onto a level area. The way ahead was now barred by a line of crags above a scree slope, to the right (west) looked the best bet and after a couple of minutes i picked up a faint path which skirted the crags and then after doubling back east was soon on the summit of Crag Fell.
Looking to Grike from Crag FellAfter 1 hour on the summit an easy stroll put me on Grike, the sun was now out and white clouds floated by under a blue sky
