Hey everyone, after completing the great Manchester run I've decided to take on a new challenge: the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge (with the british heart foundation) in July. I've decided to do this one as oppose to the national one, I'm hoping it'll be easier but I'm not sure! Has anyone ever done it before/is doing it on July 23rd?

I've done the 3 peaks as a walk (as have lots of people on here probably), but I assume you mean running it? Naargh, I'll leave that to the really fit athletes :D

Good luck with the challenge though.

It's a long day with several up and downs. The very word challenge indicates that it aint a stroll in the park and it's definitely something I, being an old codger, would not contemplate. Like red peak I'll leave that to the fitties. Good luck anyway and if you are running it please give plenty warning to walkers of your approach as these hills are full of OAP's who may need a bit longer to move out of the way.

Thanks guys, I don't think I'll be running much of it to be honest, I don't think I'm fit enough! :)

Although there are some nutters who run it, the official "Challenge" is to do it in less than 12 hours.

Here is my walk report from when I did it last year: http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=4997

Good luck!

Me & my mate Andy from work did this version of the 3 peaks 2 years ago(3rd July 2009). It took us bang on 11 hours but if my memory serves me well the length of the walk didn't really affect us too much.It did hammer it down with rain all day which made it a bit harder & unfortunately there were no views from the tops. In all though we had a good day out & managed to raise £800 for Christie's in the process. All i can say is go for it mate you'll enjoy it,the feeling of achievement when you get to the end, raising money for a good cause makes it all worthwhile. Good luck & i hope you have fun.
