The Eiger Trail
Total approx 14 kilometres, 260metres uphill, 1200metres down hill. The train up to Kleine Scheidegg costing £25. Entrance to the gorge £5.
The Eiger trail links Alpiglen and the Eigergletcher, (where the Jungfau railways tunnels into the mountain) it has been created where the north face turns to scree and scant pasture. Between the Eigergletcher and Kleine Scheidegg the is a another trail also called the Eiger trail with various exhibits and curios along the way.
I caught the train to Kleine Scheidegg and then walked the two Eiger trails continuing down to Grindlewald visiting the gorge of the Unterer Glacier. Low cloud hid the north face of the Eiger for virtually the whole day, but still very exciting stuff

Kleine Sheidegg is probably the best place Iv'e ever been to. It also provided me with one of the most memorable days in my life when I went to the Jungfraujoch and stepped out onto the snow paths above the Aletsch Glacier. The view of the North face of the Eiger and the others, Monch and Jungfrau will live with you forever. The trail looks to be a mighty fine trek. Nice one.

Yaay! great pictures! I was in the area at the beginning of July, walked 7 days of the Alpine Pass route from Murren to Gsteig! it is truly a stunning place, I was practically moved to tears to step out of my room on the morning after we arrived and see the Eiger across the valley from us...I should really post some pics too!
