After joining this site nearly a year ago and enjoying the excellent walk reports and interesting information from everyone, I thought it was about time I attempted my first walk report, (if I can conquer the technology!). So here goes:
I wanted to try this route up Scafell Pike for a change, so set off on a warm bright sunny morning from Wasdale Head, but soon the clouds drifted across which meant that clear distant views were not forthcoming. However it was an enjoyable walk and by setting off relatively early I missed the massed ranks of Scafell Pike summer holiday tourists.

I crossed the Corridor Route and continued alongside the stream to climb the scree up to Broad Crag col (the easiest way is on the right-hand side).

P.S. I always have to laugh at the inane questions and overheard comments you often hear at the honeypot locations in the Lake District at this time of year. Whilst parking my car at Wasdale Head, some lads in a car stopped and asked me where the path was up Scafell Pike - I advised them to go back to Brackenclose and follow the main path up Lingmell Gill. I asked them if they had a map - "no, but we've got a satnav" was the reply!
Then whilst having a pint outside the Wasdale Head Inn, "Southern Dad" is asked by others in his party, "which is Scafell Pike?" "That's Scafell Pike and that's Scafell I reckon" he says, as he points at Great Gable and Kirk Fell.
Well it keeps me amused I suppose! Apologies to proper Southern walkers.
