This is a great report and terrific photos. Took me right back to my own Alpine adventures, when you get the weather window as you did it's a truly magical place, but it doesn't half look crowded on your ascent day  . Lot's of queing and multi-lingual muttering I should think :?

If you ever get to go back you should have a go at Mont Blanc du Tacul. It's not as high or as technically demanding as Mont Blanc and provides great views from its more central position. I climbed it solo without any issues and had the mountain to myself in mid-Summer. Done in one long brilliantly sunny day. Remains one of my favourite mountain experiences.

Yes it was a tad busy, most were too knackered to talk thought!
Often looked at Blanc du Tacul from the Midi and thought it would be a good one to do...one day :D

WOW just WOW talk about living up to your username, this is absolutely incredible. Wonderful photographs of a tremendous effort and a genuinely 'once in a lifetime' summit, how wonderful it must have felt to stand at such a location.

What a fantastic adventure beautifully captured in words and pictures, what a memory
