Walkhighlands

Black Fell, which one doesn't normally take much notice of, is a great little top with fine views all round. We walked up from Skelwith Bridge (after coffee at Chester's), firstly on the road for a little way, then taking the bridleway at 335020 which runs south towards Low Arnside. The views of the Langdales from this path are great. We turned left up towards Black Crag at a wall just after High Arnside - it is fairly clear how to get to the summit. From there we dropped down to Iron Keld and Tarn Howes. At the south end of Tarn Howes we turned right down the lovely wooded valley and waterfalls of Tom Gill to the car park at the bottom and right towards Yew Tree Tarn. There is a path which takes you up beside the road back to Skelwith Bridge. We turned left down the Little Langdale road just after Colwith Brow and right along the Cumbria Way back to Skelwith. A thoroughly enjoyable round.
