Glad to see you are enjoying the winter, mountains look as stunning as always and these falls don't really seem small for me... Well, maybe not Niagara, but still just as good as Scottish ones
We climbed our first 2013 mountain yesterday - temperatures in Scotland have dropped below zero and small streams higher on the hills are frozen solid. Forecast for Wed/Thu night says -7* in Beauly, -14* Kingussie and Aviemore. Brrrrrr.... We're experiencing a wee taste of Canadian weather. Not that I'm complaining

Thaks BP, its nice to be back into some nice cool temps, those falls apparently get enormous later in the year. Your temps are a bit too cool I think (-14 over here is nice because it is so dry, but over there its bloody cold  )

DaveB1 wrote:That's better Chris, back to the white stuff. Superb pics, I guess the bears are hibernating  I think you've got at least 20 degrees start on 'cold', but we are trying hard here in Blighty. Keep them coming, Dave

Cheers Dave, we've had a warm (well Canadian warm) few days on the bounce now, I might be able to get up a mountain if this continues........though if it gets too warm the bears will think its spring

Ooooh nice JC, I'm not sure about the hills out there but there are more lakes than you can point a stick at  It will be interesting to see some pics from your Canadian hikes if possible, I'm hoping to get out that way this year on a long road trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia, stopping to hike where possible

 Thanks Polly, it was easy walking on the ice with micros on, though upstream in the snow with boulders underneath it...I was on my bahookie as much as on my feet I reckon

Hi Chris

What an amazing place!

Last time I was able to walk on a 'river' it was when the Grand Union Canal in the Chilterns froze solid back in the mid '80s!

I just love your reports, you live in such a fabulous area.

Cheers

Cheers Clive, I sometimes have to pinch myself just to make sure I'm still really here  hard to imagine the Grand Union getting solid enough nowadays .....global warming takes all the fun out of winter

Cheers Ray, might get up a mountain this week, the weather has been warm (2-5 degrees) for a few days now and a good thaw has set in so there might be another one along soon :D
