three Icelandic waterfalls

On the third day of my four day trip to Iceland I headed south from the north fjords area down to the south coast for a visit to Gullifoss, Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss as well as a short walk up the small hill west of Vik.
Seljalandsfoss especially I found to be awe inspiring. On the approach you can look south and see Surtsey and the other Westmanna islands and just north of the main road you can see Seljalandsfoss from some distance off. It is actually set in a beautiful meadow that runs north for some distance with other minor waterfalls tumbling down the same line of cliffs to the east.

You can follow a path up the right of the fall right the way up to the local bit of the ice cap.

If there was one more place relatively close (Europe) that I could go to it would be Iceland. I'd have loved to have visited the worlds great waterfalls but I doubt it will ever happen. Seeing Iceland's dramatic falls would do me now.

I visited these three falls a couple of summers ago. Fair to say, you got much better weather!

Lovely photos - they look much prettier in the sun. The volume of water at Skogafoss is particularly impressive.

Easy to get to from Glasgow but I dare say harder from further away. I kept the cost down a bit by sleeping in my hire car but not good for the back so I'll take a tent if I ever return.

Yes, lucky with the sunshine but a biting cold wind too not to mention sandstorms.
