This really was a QMD (quality mountain day) Hartsop provides a good parking area with an honesty box, money from the box goes to Patterdale school.

Although this is not a long trip, as you will see from the photos it was memorable. Anyone going out in these conditions needs to be on top of there game. This is a dangerous enviroment, one wrong move can prove fatal. Graham who is in the photos can verify this as his story is well worth the telling.

He was in 1999 the Fell tops assesor for the weather line. On his 256th ascent of Helvellyn Graham fell 250ft down the face of Helvellyn, shattering his hip and pelvis, plus the ice axe went through his rib cage. After being rebuilt they said he would never climb again, but the photos prove them wrong.

There was a silver linning I got his job for the rest of the season. So please remember these mountains demand respect

A fine set of photo’s :D on what looked the perfect day out. Glad to see Graham recovered from his mishap and is back in the mountains.
