How far do you travel for these walks - do you cover a lot of miles or are you lucky enough to be living close to the Rockies?? PS Porcupine Ridge - I'd have to walk that for the name itself!

Thanks Geordie, the area I do most of my hiking in is called Kananaskis and is about 1 hour from home for me, sometimes a little longer or shorter but around an hour on average so pretty close.....I'm very lucky  I did Porcupine ridge in Feb 2012, a great hike with some stunning scenery :D

Thanks JK.....this lump loomed large over me every time I drove past it so it was nice to see it off at last

Been meaning to post a comment on this one for a few days Chris, but just haven't been on the site as much recently.

As always, it's another super report and the photos are simply amazing :D I remember your previous "experience" on this walk, so well done on returning and putting it to bed. I'm sure we all have our own personal hill walking nemesis' (I know I do  ) but they are probably not as dramatic as this was for you. Just glad it passed without major incident this time

Thanks Pete, this is one I've dodged for a wee bit but I had to get it done as I drive past it so often it was haunting me

Cheers ML, snow in July isn't a common thing but it does happen, it's been an odd year for weather but winter will be here soon and with it those beautiful crispy cold days I love so much
