Contrasting short walks in the Shropshire Hills. Haddon and Bodbury Hills, north of the Long Mynd, make a lovely walk on obviously popular routes from the Cardingmill Valley; dramatic scenery and lovely underfoot. The approach via Lightspout Hollow through the narrowing valley up a rocky path is very good, even if the falls themselves might be of little note elsewhere.
Titterstone Clee Hill, a high point prominent from miles around, has been scarred by the old quarries (disused and now making for pleasingly rocky surrounds) and the new radar station buildings (still clearly used and charmless); the northern climb through bracken on the Shropshire Way is quite nice; this circuitous route to get to the foot of it through muddy and desolate terrain much less so.
