Walkhighlands

I parked the car at Mardale Head and started the day with a nice ridge walk over Rough Crag and up to the top of High Street. There was some scrambling involved but nothing too difficult.















At the top the going gets easier with good paths along a flat grassy ridge.



The next summit was The Knott. From here I decided to make the walk a long one by including a visit to Rest Dodd and The Nab.




The Nab is one of the remotest hills in the Lakes.The only way to get to it is via Rest Dodd - which meant I had to go up and down Rest Dodd twice.
In between Rest Dodd and The Nab there's a large area of peat hags.Fortunately it hadn't rained for a few days so the ground was dry. I wouldn't like to go there in wet conditions.







After a steep re-ascent of Rest Dodd I then went back down and up again to the High Street ridge, and 3 more Wainwright summits.









From High Raise I went down to Low Raise and then followed the ridge down to the South-East.This turned out to be an awkward descent as it's largely pathless and I didn't know the best way down, but I eventually made it down to the lakeside path, and back to the car park.

An interesting walk and you got some good views!

There are some superb climbs from Mardale Head, Andy, and Rough Crag - Long Stile - High Street is one of the best. High Raise SE ridge makes a nice ascent too. You'll have had good views coming down that way, but I can understand why you found micro-navigation a little tricky in descent.

I wonder if we're all being too well-behaved by only approaching and leaving The Nab via Rest Dodd? Plenty of Scottish routes involve walking through deer forest, and there's now an offshoot of the Martindale red deer herd around Armboth Fell, where walkers have free access.
