Misty day on the Whinfell Ridge - very tough navigation between Mabbin Crag, Castle Fell and Whinfell Beacon - went wrong several times.

First two summits are excellent but after that the high level walk reduces in beauty. Lovely valley return through Borrowdale though.

Mist right down but surprisingly dry underfoot and the rain held off.

Would like to have another go at this one soon and include the Whinash Ridge on the other side of the valley as the return route.

Cairn on first top of Ashstead Fell is a fitting summit but not the highest point.

I took no photos over Castle Fell and Whinfell Common with navigation very hard and the weather closing in. This is the top of Whinfell Beacon where it started to improve a bit.
