Good spring day out, making full and undulating circuits of the fells above Ambleside.

Loughrigg is a really beautiful walk - woods filled with wild flowers, grand lake views, good grass paths over the many-summited plateau, and even a fine cave.

A pretty unrelentingly steep climb from the town to Wansfell Pike, but paved all the way to a pretty nice viewpoint peak. Clear that's where the tourist way ends though - a long up and down, pretty marshy trudge along the ridge to the real summit and down to the walled Troutbeck lanes is much rougher. Easier going back above Windermere.
