6 weeks holiday 3 Peak challenge - Scafell Pike

Thanks to everyone for the kind support after my first report on the Rhyd-Ddu route up Snowdon. Here we are again, living in the midlands we had a very early start on 2nd August to enable us to bag our 2nd peak of the holidays. Again the weather reports were mixed and it was unclear how it would turn out. We had hoped to go via Mickledore col however the weather and at that point in the walk was not great and all though my 3 young ones love scrambling I did not want to risk an injury. So we kept it simple.



We set of from the Wasdale National trust car park, pay and display £4.50, with all the waterproofs on! At this point the weather was uncertain and forecast suggested it may clear for lunch. How wrong was it today? We will see...



Over the foot bridge we went and up the long slog towards Brown Tongue. The views made up for it.

We didn't stay long, we took some shelter and put on some extra layers and headed back towards Lingmell col. Once we descended towards Hollow Stones the weather started to improve and the layers came off again. By the time we reached the car park the views back to Scafell Pike were amazing. Anyone having an early evening summit would have been in for a treat.

Well done all. The kids did well not to be disheartened by the clag and keep going right to the top. It's quite a slog! Shame to have missed the summit views but hey ho. Good luck for the big one!

Another cracker Chinksster, some great shots of a tough day for the kids (no views after all that effort ) but that last shot in the car is awesome. It would do more to get parents up hills with their kids than any other pic I've seen
