Our first day on our week away in the lakes in glorious weather of the summer (at the end of September), so we decided to break ourselves in on Skidaw, being based near Keswick. A long hike in behind the massif via Skidaw house brought us to the back of Bakestall (which is quite a climb to get up) before we eventually summited.

Then we dropped down the steep southern flank to Carlside

before moving along the west ridge to Ullock Pike via Long Side

we then tracked back over Carl Side and traversed around Skidaw via Fox Bield and up to Little Man

before finally moving along the ridge to the uninspiring Lonscale Fell

before slogging back down the path and back to the car park. Not bad for a first day. Hope the weather holds like this as Im getting a bit sunburnt!
