Day three of out dash to the Lakes....still baking up here but even after two good walks the previous two days it would be rude to NOT do another one, although my nose is starting to peel now. generally though everyone is in good health and ready to tackle some more ascent.
Off to Ennerdale we go, with a steep, hard but fun ascent up to Great Bourne, via a stream gully,

but a great view at the top and it looks like one of the less visited mountains.

Then we just follow the ridge to Starling Dodd, with its pile of old iron on top

then up to Red Pike, with quite a steep climb to get up there 9aptly names as there seemed to be a collection of Liverpool supporters up there.

Despite that the view was amazing:

Up to High stile and High Crag before dropping down to the foot of Haystacks.

High Crag....last stop

To be honest at this point we didn't fancy any more ascent and we knew we had quite a hike back to the car along the track and through forestry so we left it there

...getting more sun burnt all the time.

Nice one, that's a fine ridge walk (first section of the Ennerdale Horseshoe). :)

we considered doing the horseshoe in fact, camping out around Great Gable area, but given the first two days walking we were fairly well spent and thought best to take it a little easy!
