Nice report Susan.

I spent 6 hours just a couple of miles away from you yesterday going around the skyline of Edale!

Do you walk in the Peaks regularly?

Hi Derek, we are out every saturday and a good two thirds we are in the peaks, other haunts are the lakes, snowdonia, llangollen area and shropshire, check my topics. I said to my husband when we got back that we hadn't bumped into many people on such a nice weekend :D A lot of people don't put themselves on the pics but it's nice to see what fellow walkers look like, as you say we might meet one day  I did suggest Paul might conjure up a badge we can wear

Nice report Susan. This looks like a good site, cheap too.
Wonder if Paul would give permission to use an image from the site to customise them? :)

the water?Up your way again last week a 10 mile circular from the Ramblers Retreat at Dimmingsdale, lovely.

Maybe we could have a standing reservation on a table in the beer garden of the Nags Head in Edale on a Saturday afternoon where WalkHighlanders could congregate to quench their thirst?

I always enjoy Alport Castles, though never walked up to Bleaklow from there. Looks like it might involve a lot of black treacle.

The Peak Park board could usefully put in a few paths to by pass the unavoidable road walking along the Snake.

BTW

Why is there an 'Old Woman' marked on the map near the top of Doctor's Gate? Shouldn't someone be looking after her?

Thanks for the comments, its quite dry at the moment in the swamp area but there are no paths, you can see the top of the gorge in good weather. We travel home and debrief at a local pub, any excuse  Thanks for the link to the badges skuk007, we could wear them on our rucksack strap or hats, it would be nice to meet eachother, I will put a message on discussion where more will see it and give the web site you found, thanks Sue :D

Nice to see some Dark Peak photos. I had a couple of flying visits (to Bleaklow and the N edge of the Kinder plateau) when I lived in Warrington, but have never really spent enough time there. Will have to return at some point.

'hope you are all enjoying the good weather'.....no!...July seems to be passing away up here, with grey skies, big winds and some quite heavy showers. :( The longs days are fast passing away. You folks always seem to have good weather down there!.....bet you don't even bother to look at the forecasts for Scotland. :(
