Green Crag, Shipman Knotts

Autumnal Sunday of grey skies for a couple of shorter walks to pick up outlying Wainwrights.
First a short circuit on very nice paths from Kentmere to Shipman Knotts, a good peak (much better than the marshy ridge north) between two lovely valleys.
Then Wainwright's peat-road route from Eskdale to Green Crag (a last Southern Fell). This is basically very rough terrain but the paths find good a way round it (the easterly descent route to Penny Hill is over a much better part of the plateau than the low Birker ascent, but hard to follow and quite wet on the final drop). Both the main peak and Crook Crag have quite steep and rocky final slopes; all round a better-than-expected walk even with the views missing.
