There's a little car park near Wha House farm in Eskdale which was almost full but I just managed to squeeze into the last space. From here it's a long walk in up the valley to Cam Spout, which is where the climbing starts.

A rocky path leads up the side of the waterfall towards Mickledore, the pass which separates Scafell from Scafell Pike.

The Foxes Tarn ascent route is just to the left of the large crag in the centre of the picture. A steep scramble up the rocky gully leads to the Tarn (really just a puddle), and a steep scree path continues up to the summit plateau.

The minor summit of Symonds Knott gives a good view over to the multitudes on Scafell Pike.

From here it's an easy walk up to the main summit.

I then followed the ridge down over Long Green to Slight Side, which has two little rocky summits.

The route back to Eskdale goes through an area called Quagrigg Moss. Fortunately this wasn't as much of a quagmire as the name might suggest. In fact it's a pleasant grassy descent all the way down, on a path which finally dropped straight down to where I was parked.

Lovely pics of a classic Andy, is there ever a time that Scafell doesn't have a bunch of folks standing about on it
