s A relaxing day in the Peak District. Picking up in Youlgreave where we left off, we dropped into tranquil Lathkill Dale, up through a wood and across fields to Haddon Hall
. A noisy few hundred yards along the A6 then into the woods. Up past the absurd railway tunnel under Haddon Hall grounds (his lordship insisted on a tunnel even though there is only 3-4 feet of earth over the tunnel roof) The line has been closed for 50 years now so it's not a good idea to jump up and down on top of it. Carrying on uphill we wind through sunlit woodlands to emerge at the top with a superb view over the Derwent Valley to Chatsworth House
. Pleasant stroll through the grounds to the model village of Edensor, down to the house and along the River to Baslow. No thrills but a very pleasant day. Maybe I should forget about hills and go in for rambling full time.
