Walkhighlands

s A relaxing day in the Peak District. Picking up in Youlgreave where we left off, we dropped into tranquil Lathkill Dale, up through a wood and across fields to Haddon Hall. A noisy few hundred yards along the A6 then into the woods. Up past the absurd railway tunnel under Haddon Hall grounds (his lordship insisted on a tunnel even though there is only 3-4 feet of earth over the tunnel roof) The line has been closed for 50 years now so it's not a good idea to jump up and down on top of it. Carrying on uphill we wind through sunlit woodlands to emerge at the top with a superb view over the Derwent Valley to Chatsworth House. Pleasant stroll through the grounds to the model village of Edensor, down to the house and along the River to Baslow. No thrills but a very pleasant day. Maybe I should forget about hills and go in for rambling full time.

There is some great walking country around Bakewell my favourite area is Monsal Dale.Its great on a hot summers day.
