Polands Tatra Mountains - Eagles Path

This is not really a report but more a selection of photos from my recent trip to a rather nice corner of the world, namely the Eagles path at Zakopane in in southern Poland.
We were there for a week and did various outdoor stuff including a bit of caving and lots of walking, but this set of photos are from the main Eagles Path which we started at the top of the cable car which you get at Kuznice and it takes you to Kasprowy Peak 1987mts which was our starting point for the walk. This took us up and over Swinica 2301mts then on to the Zawrat Pass 2156mts and on to Goat Peak 2291mts and just beyond that we descended down Goat Valley to end up at Black Pond then finished at the mountain hut at Gasienicowa Coom and finally back down to Kuznice again. It was a fantastic walk including some amazing scrambling , stunning views and I think it would be Via Feratta (with chains and not wire rope) ?? It was not a huge distance but with all the ascent and decent that was done it took a good time.

That looks a really enjoyable hike scramble TS and if not technically via ferrata it's certainly very similar. The via ferrata tends to be steel rope so you can clip up to it and walk along with the carabiners sliding happily alongside, I'm not sure how successful that would be with chains

Anyway, it matters not, it's still a great looking hike/scramble and certainly one that I've 'logged' for the future

That is exactly what some people were doing, although I felt a bit unnecessary a lot of the time, but I guess some people are more safety conscious than me and others. Very slow though

An ex-collegue of mine was crazy about the Tatras, though he never produced any pics of them. Seeing your report I understand his love for this part of Europe, it's beautiful.
Via Ferrata means nothing but Iron Road, so even this carabiner-unfriendly chain is imho a via ferrata. Doesn't seem too dangerous though to do them without carabiners and a viaferrata set. I guess in winter it's a very different story.

Funnily enough I have been looking at the possibility of a Dolomite trip next year, oh but where to start?? the choice is incredible!

There are plenty of reports on this site - try looking at trekker53 or mine from a year ago - I'm away to put up a whole lot more from the recent holiday too. We just bought the cicerone VF book and let that be our guide
