Parking for our two cars
We set off with our targets ahead.

We're off

Getting higher
It was a steep climb as we skirted the woods up to our first summit of Mynnydd Tarw (Bull Mountain) at 681m.Here the shelter is fashioned from an ancient cairn, great views over Cheshire and Shropshire

Mynnydd Tawr
We carried on north-west to Foel Wen South Top at 687m and then the short pull to the flat summit of Foel Wen at 691m (White Bare Hill)

Nice and clear today

To Foel Wen, Brian and myself
Our next target was Tomle (The Mire) at 742m, the ground was quite boggy and hard work, we could see Cadair Berwyn ahead.

The ridge
We now reached Cadair Berwyn (Berwyn's Chair) at 827m, along with the New Top at 830m and it was time for a bite

Us girls
We had about half an hour here and in that time it not only got colder but the mist dropped and our views disappeared

Time to go

Views !!!!!!
We continued on, it is here with a short detour you can take in the 10th top of Moel Sych but as we had done this before and with the mist we turned for home, our next summit would be Moel Yr Ewig at 695m. Half a mile later comes the north-west top of Godor at 675m before we reached Godor (Break) itself at 679m, it sounds like a place in "Lord of the Rings" We then descended the east ridge to pick up the right of way back to our start.

Our ascent
It was a shame about the weather closing in but it was a lovely walk and its always impressive when you can see the whole route as you look back, a lovely area. See you soon :D

Shame the weather closed in. Looks a great area - still haven't been to the Berwyn yet. That looks a steep-sided descent in the mist at the end! Love the cairn shelter on Mynydd Tarw with the tree! You didn't translate Moel Yr Ewig for us - Bald hill of the earwig?

Sorry MC, thought people would have lost faith by then  it means "Bare hill of the Hind", so apparently there must have been deer around way back in the times of the Hobbits  It clagged in very quick which was a shame, but thats what we have to put up with, us walkers. They are forecasting an early winter, get you crampons sharpened up :D

I think my 'earwig' translation is funnier :D

Yeah, Richard told me that the weather forecasters said the other day on the TV that we were definitely not going to get an Indian Summer and probably wouldn't see any more spells of good weather longer than a day or so until November!! I really don't like this new climate pattern - no summers (not up here anyway - we didn't have any of that hot weather) and long, cold winters :( Oh well, at least I should get in more winter walking experience in the Lakes...
