Couldn't get out at weekend so used some flexi for a grey afternoon walk on local hills. Hardly any wind so pretty warm.

I do this walk a lot (closest to work for early finishes!) and the initial private roads through Bleasdale would make a pleasant low level route in in their own right.

A good track crosses Bowland from Bleasdale to Langden via Fiendsdale Head. The Bleasdale side is not quite as dramatic as the Fiendsdale side but offers a good route. Slabs help progress over the top boggy parts and there is an option of hills (via boggy routes) you could go onto from here.

My preference though is to retrace steps and follow this obvious gill to regain height. It's a short, steep climb but quite unlike anything else in Bowland and dry underfoot!

You then join a shooting track round to below Hazelhurst Fell.

The Trig Point is a short detour away. Looking over to Clougha Pike here.
