Another lovely sunny Sunday in the Lakes ! This week my father was leading a walk on behalf of the Morecambe & Heysham Fellwalking Club and Helvellyn was on the To Do list so I joined a small group of 6 at Dunmail Raise around 10-30.

Our path took us up the pass following the stream to Grizedale Tarn under the impressive shadow of Fairfield and then left up the zig zag path to the summit of Dollywagon Pike.

From here it was a ramble along the ridges over Nethermost and onto summit of Helvellyn.

There were plenty of people clambering over Striding and Swirral Edges but we turned around and headed back down west flank towards southern tip of Thirlmere and route back to the cars.
