Hello everyone, as promised we got to Snowdonia yeaterday. A 6.00am start and a bacon butty in the car and we were on the way to Betwys-Y-Coed to meet lovey dovey couple Steve and Jan, did you forget it was Valentines's Day lads? YES
or NO
. From there it was a few miles up the road to Capel Curig and the car park behind Joe Browns. It was about 9.30 before we set off, going behind the church and up towards Craig Wen before cresting Craiglwyn, then on to the double ridge of Craigian Gleision which took us along the side of the Llyn Cowlyd Reservoir. As we rounded the water we broke trail and cut across heading for the highest point of the day, Pen Llithrig-y-wrach at 799 metres, a steep climb which was where we passed some plane wreckage with its poignant memorial poppy. It was getting a tiring day with the sometimes knee deep soft snow and I was quite happy to be making our way down to the head of the reservoir and the trail back to the car. We reached there at about 4.30pm, about 9.5 miles and still had another 3 hours before home, a very enjoyable day but the continual loss of height made it tiring, see you next week, take care all, Sue
