As I could only be away from the car for a very short time I ascended part of Parlick Fell in the beautiful Forest of Bowland.

It is quite an accessible hill with a busy parking area just below the path; I was able to walk up halfway to about 320m parallel to a distinctive stream and slope.

Before returning to the car I walked on a footpath across a field opposite the parking area.

I listened to the peewits of the lapwings which sounded like looping electronica. A hare and two grouse erupted from the undergrowth where a field boundary was marked. It was a short walk but worth every second of its 25 minutes.

Sometimes the brief, stolen moments are the best. Will have to visit the Forest of Bowland one of these days... :)
