A misty start from Seathwaite with the weather brightening up later for a nice day on some of the Lakeland biggies.

Main objectives of the day were to take in Base Brown for the 2nd time and the two Nuttall summits of Round How and Middleboot Knotts.

2 Path up.JPG
Path up via Sourmilk Gill - steep with a few tiny scrambles made a bit trickier today with the rocks being soaking

Great End from Base Brown. It's an enjoyable route up Base Brown from Seathwaite.

6 C Route to Lingmell.JPG
Out of the mist at Sty Head and looking down the Corridor Route to Lingmell. I actually went wrong coming out of Skew Gill and ended up on the older lower path. This had to be rectified with a pathless trudge back up to meet the proper path.

7 Lingmell from Round How.JPG
Lingmell towering over Middleboot Knotts from Round How - reached by a short and steep climb from the Corridor Route

8 Again from MK.JPG
Lingmell again from Middleboot Knotts - reached very easily from the CR and hard to see how it makes a seperate summit.

9 Piers Gill.JPG
Piers Gill - one day I'll have to follow this in it's entirety from Wasdale Head

10 Lingmell.JPG
Lingmell summit - back in cloud!

11 Scafell Pike.JPG
The dull trudge up Scafell Pike from Lingmell was not quite as long as I remembered it. The summit - even on a cloudy weekday - was packed. I didn't linger long.

Gable is now clear as well from Great End

16 Scafells now clear.JPG
Finally the Scafells clear as well - maybe should have lingered there longer!

20 Steeply down.JPG
Steeply down to join up with the Sty Head path

21 Alternate descent.JPG
Styhead Gill was easy to cross so I opted to join the path on the other side as I've never been that way

22 Taylorgill Force.JPG
This is a fantastic route with a great view of Taylorgill Force

23 Scrambly bits.JPG
Although the odd scrambly bit means that this route requires more attention and is preferable as an ascent route rather than a descent route - the regular Sty Head route being an easy stroll down to finish the day.
